Wait For It — Life with HAMILTON

Christmas 2016: Some kid I didn’t know at a friend’s family holiday party put headphones on me and hit play on “Cabinet Battle #1.” Until then, I’d heard *of* HAMILTON (sounded silly, honestly), but never *heard* it.

And then the world turned upside down.

Six months later — almost exactly two years ago — here’s a video of my five year old daughter.

I’ll say it for the thousandth time: Hamilton is a dazzling work of genius, UNEXPECTEDLY great art that grabs so hard, so far and wide — so multifaceted as to have moments for almost anybody, be they emotional, psychological, melodic, cultural, or historical. I have simply never experienced anything like it, period, The End.

If it has not reached you, I sincerely hope you one day get to be in a room where it happens. For my crew, that’s today in Louisville. After two and a half years, it’s fair to say we’ve been willing to wait for it.
